Gongda Yu
Gongda Yu has been awarded the inaugural ITS-NY Dotty Drinkwater Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Transportation Systems Engineering at the University at Buffalo. His research focuses on understanding the causes, perceptions, and impacts of driving anxiety on young drivers’ skills and behaviors, as well as investigating how advanced warning messages from autonomous vehicles influence the behavior and perceptions of road users within virtual reality. Gongda holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, where he studied traffic flow characteristics and network traffic instability in automated driving environments.
His research interests also include road weather and winter maintenance using ITS information, traffic safety, travel behavior, travel demand forecasting, and transportation systems.

ITE MET Section
Congratulations to C2SMARTER student researcher Haggai Davis III. who has been selected as the recipient of this year’s ITE MET Section Dr. Louis J. Pignataro Memorial Transportation Education Award! Haggai is a 3rd year Ph.D. Candidate at NYU.
This award will be presented to Haggai at the next ITE MET Section Meeting on April 17th at Princeton University.
