In Memory Of
In Loving Memory of Dorothy G. Drinkwater
October 26, 1952 - October 11, 2021
ITS-NY is saddend to inform our members and our transportation community at-large, that Dotty Drinkwater has passed away. Dotty was our Administrator for over twenty -five years -essentially acting as the face of ITS-NY. In her role as Administrator, she guided the growth of ITS-NY into what it is today. Her leadership and tutelage ensured the consistent growth and betterment of the organization. Without Dotty’s involvement, suffice it to say, this organization would not have attained the heights it has, nor perhaps, would the ITS industry have achieved what it has in New York State.
Dotty retired from ITS-NY in 2019, and that year, the Board of Directors voted to change the name of the Distinguished Member of the Year, given annually to the member who has significantly contributed over the past year to the direct fulfillment in the goals and objectives of ITS-NY, to the Dotty Drinkwater Distinguished Member of the Year Award.
To say the Dotty was the face of ITS-NY would be to sell her short. She was ITS-NY. Through her leadership, she made ITS-NY a warm and welcome place for members. The organization’s vision to promote intelligent transportation in New York was acheived through Dotty’s warm and gregarious personality. She made everyone feel welcome, wanted and important and her bubbly disposition, while performing the overwhelming tasks of Administrator, made you want to be her friend. We were all lucky for that. There will never, ever be anyone quite like Dotty and ITS-NY will forever be in her debt.

It is with deep sorrow that ITS-NY shares the news of Dr. Hassan Rezaei Homami’s passing. Dr. Homami served as a Senior Supervising Engineer at WSP. He moved to the United States from Iran following the Iranian Revolution of 1979. In 2013, Dr. Homami earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the City University of New York and brought with him 29 years of expertise in ITS Planning, design, PS&E, construction support, and operation and maintenance support. He was instrumental in designing the wireless ITS system for NYSDOT Region 8 in Westchester County and recently shared his insights at the ITS-NY 32nd Annual Meeting and Technology Exhibition.
